Moonlight Yoga, the Story...

 

 

Slated to open Fall 2014, Moonlight Yoga will offer many styles and fusions of yoga classes.   Adult, family, kids and teen yoga classes, adaptive (wheelchair or chair) yoga, autistic children's yoga, visiting yoga instructors and seminars, and a variety of community activities will be available  to students and visitors of  the North County San Diego area.  

Owner, teacher and visionary, Lhotse Hawk, began her yoga practice watching “Lilias Yoga & You” on the Public Broadcast System (PBS) network when she was just four years old.  Yoga was a well-rounded resource that ebbed and flowed in Lhotse’s life as an exercise of strength, grounding and solace.  During her divorce, Lhotse rediscovered her daily yoga practice and searched for the perfect yoga studio to fit her lifestyle.  She felt there was “something missing” from the existing yoga class offerings in what seems to be a large yoga market. Together with her daughter, they decided to open a community yoga studio to provide the new contemporary and classic styles of yoga in a modern, custom space inclusive of those with a busy schedule or family.  Determined to create this unique studio, Lhotse expanded her practice and Moonlight dream.  Her vision of this special studio expanded and materialized after she found the perfect location for a studio on 2nd Street (between E & F Streets) in downtown Encinitas.  Purchasing the property, Lhotse set out to custom build a USGBC LEED certified green yoga studio.  The studio will include a large airy upstairs studio and deck, a smaller accessible downstairs studio space and an outdoor meditation and practice garden.  Massage, reiki, and minor medical aesthetic treatments will also be available in the two massage rooms at Moonlight Yoga. 

Lhotse is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher (500hr RYT) with Yoga Alliance, and has studied many yoga styles with teachers around the globe including Bahrat Thakur, Jennifer Pastiloff, Monica Mesa, Govindas, Bryan Kest, Tom & Trisha Kelly, Flossie Park, Monique Lonner, Brian Dorfman and others.  Lhotse and her five year old daughter, Kady, live in Encinitas, near Moonlight Beach.
